When a student has been deprived of a free, appropriate public education, one of the most effective remedies available is compensatory education. Compensatory education provides a student with educational services above and beyond those required by his or her IEP to make up for services or meaningful education benefit that should have been provided, but weren’t.

Compensatory education is usually awarded in the form of a number of hours, but can often be converted to a monetary fund that can be used for any legitimate educational purpose.

There is a limit on the number of years back you can go in seeking a remedy.  If you believe that your child may be entitled to compensatory education services, don’t delay.  Come in for an evaluation of your case.
